|Welcome to St Stephens Gate Medical Practice|
Telephone System Changes
As part of the plan to offer more services, appointment choice and a better range of evening and weekend appointments, we are bringing in new arrangements for when you call the surgery.
The practice has invested in a new telephone system which will increase capacity and enable you to speak directly to our specialist teams for:
- Results (please call after 11am)
- Secretaries and referral enquiries
- Prescriptions and medication inquiries
The good news is that all current numbers remain unchanged
In order to make sure that your queries are dealt with by the most suitable person you will be asked a short question by highly trained receptionists to help place you in the right service.
Our clinicians include:
- Nurse Practitioners who can prescribe
We hope you will find the new system easy to use and offer you a wider range of appropriate appointments.
Partnership with Newmarket Road Surgery
Our surgery has begun working in much closer partnership with Newmarket Road Surgery. We have entered into a ‘soft merger’ which means we can share accommodation, staff, services and data systems.
Our doctors, nurses and all our practice team are getting busier, so by sharing what we do, we can manage increasing demand better.
What does it mean for me?
All clinicians will remain the same, and you will still be able to arrange appointments for emergencies, appointments, visit requests and all other queries. We are planning to widen the opportunities to see different people when appropriate and access different services. We will tell you more as this develops.
Patient Participation Group
We are always keen to welcome patients to join our Patient Participation Group. It is a friendly group that helps shape and inform the development of patient services. We are particularly keen to hear from young people and people at work, and can tailor our meetings to suit your needs.
Just email Rosemary Moore, Practice Manager, on firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
We no longer accept telephone requests for medication but please continue to call our script team if you have any medication queries.
The best way to order is to sign up to our free, easy to use ordering online service. Simply ask at reception. We will explain how it works and it can be used by a nominated carer on your behalf if you prefer.
This will list the medications you normally take and you can simply click and send. There is a handy feature to add any notes (such as extra quantities for holidays etc)
You can also drop a request in at the desk or use a community pharmacist.
The script team will be available to answer medication queries between 10am and 12 noon and may ring you back outside these times. They will not be able to accept requests however.
We are situated very close to public transport stops on St Stephens Street and the bus station on Surrey Street. There is limited free underground parking available on site and you can also have your Chapelfield parking ticket validated at reception if your stay is under 1 hour.
